The herd of Giraffes

Giraffescape

This is another of my photographs from the nature preserve in Florida. The giraffe whose head and neck appears at camera left is the same giraffe from the images here and here. I swear this giraffe was a muse as I got some of my best photos I've ever taken by following that giraffe around

I convinced the driver to drive around so I could get another photo of the giraffe who is sitting down. Eventually that image will eventually appear on the site.

Its the composition of this piece that I enjoy. It seems to be so alive and just always pleased me. Whenever you see a nature documentary, you see perhaps one or two giraffes at a time- you rarely get to see a family unit like this. In the background, you can just make out a small herd of Grant's Gazelles.
